SIMEST to Finance Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing

Starting from September 21, 2026, SIMEST will introduce a dedicated section for investments in Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing, with a €200 million allocation.

The new opportunity is part of the “Digital or Ecological Transition” financing programme and aims to support Italian companies investing in advanced technologies to strengthen their competitiveness and international presence.

Investments in AI and Quantum Computing will benefit from particularly attractive conditions:

• up to 30% non-repayable funding;

• an advance payment of up to 50%;

• financing terms of up to 8 years, including 2 years of pre-amortization;

• the possibility of allocating 100% of the financing to investments related to AI and Quantum Computing.

The financing amount can reach up to €500,000 for micro-enterprises, €2.5 million for SMEs and innovative SMEs, and €5 million for other companies, subject to the limits and requirements established by the programme.

The opportunities cover a wide range of projects: from the introduction of generative AI and machine learning into business processes to the development of new products and services, as well as the testing of applications based on quantum computing.

The new SIMEST section therefore represents an interesting financial lever for SMEs, innovative companies, manufacturing businesses, software houses and deep-tech companies investing in the technologies of the future.
